PHARMA SUPPORT TO 267 SITES WORLDWIDE (DOS PHARMA) This is a challenge. The Department of State (DOS) has 267 sites worldwide, embassies and consulates, that need pharmaceuticals and medical supplies. We currently spent about $3M each year (see the attached list of the top 400 items) and have been handling our own customs requirements, some of which are onerous. It's time to outsource. The ideal solution would include: • eCommerce • Just-in-time (JIT) ordering/shipping • 24/7 customer support • Data interface with DOS procurement systems (is this even possible?) • Shipment of medically controlled substances, cold-chain, and HAZMAT products • Customs paperwork and approvals • Quality assurance and performance feedback • Flexibility and depth for support of contingencies and special project initiatives Bottom line is that we require industry input on how our posts can obtain drugs and other medical supplies in a fast and efficient manner that is not going to cost a fortune in new infrastructure. The Department of State solicits comments which address industry practices, potential problems, best business practices, pricing strategies, and contract type and line item structure. Please be as specific as possible in suggesting approaches and solutions. Send information by email to:
