NASA/ARC plans to issue a Request for Quotations (RFQ) for the following Commercial item/services: Purchase Projector Z Screen, part# PZS DLP, designed to fit Christie Mirage DLP projector; light duty plastic eyewear (qty 25), part# PLEP25; legacy emitter adapter kit, part# LADAP; and E2 emitter, part# E2. This procurement is being conducted under the Simplified acquisition Procedures (SAP). NASA/ARC intends to purchase a Purchase Projector Z Screen and a legacy emitter adapter kit from StereoGraphics, Inc. of San Rafael, CA on a sole source basis pursuant to FAR Part 6.302-1, based on Sterographic's ability to meet our specification performance. These parts from SteroGraphicsare are specifically made for the Christie Digital Mirage 2000 Projector. The Government intends to acquire a commercial item using FAR 12. Interested organizations may submit their capabilities and qualifications to perform the effort in writing to the identified point of contact not later that 4:00 p.m local time on May 4, 2004. Such capabilities/qualifications will be evaluated solely for the purpose of determining whether or not to conduct this procurement on a competitive basis. A determination by the Government not to compete this proposed effort on a full and open competition basis, based upon responses to this notice is solely within the discretion of the Government. This sole source is made under the authority of FAR Part 13.106-1(b), for the acquisition of supplies and services determined to be reasonably available for only one source. StereoGraphics is the only known supplier for this equipment that will potentially met the very challenging requirements that is critical to our research and development goals. Oral communications are not acceptable in response to this notice. All responsible sources may submit an offer, which shall be considered by the agency. The NAICS Code and Size Standard are 333315 and 500 employees, respectively. An ombudsman has been appointed. See NASA Specific Note "B".
