General Scope The Molecular Core Facility at the San Francisco VA Medical Center (SFVAMC) is requesting the purchase of the Applied Biosystems QuantStudio 7 Flex PCR System. This equipment is for the purpose of performing the Polymerase Chain Reaction (PCR), a technology that amplifies DNA or cDNA targets up to a million fold. This instrument will be used for a variety of applications including gene expression, SNP variants detection, miRNA profiling, copy number determination, and others. The instrument needed should come equipped with 6 filter channels for multiplexing and TaqMan assays to provide high sensitivity and high specificity measurements. Instrument must have both 96-well and 384-well blocks to accommodate different run formats. It must also have the capability to run both TaqMan and SBYR chemistries and be compatible with 384-well TaqMan Array Card technology (a microfluidics card for high throughput use on small volume reactions). Contractor service personnel will be responsible for the installation and training of the instrument to ensure its proper operation. The contractors should be licensed and certified by ThermoFisher and have the knowledge, tools, and experience to provide this service. This notice of intent is not a request for competitive proposals; however, any responsible source who believes they are capable of meeting the requirement may submit a capability statement to the contracting office no later than Tuesday, August 9, 2016 at 2:00 PM EST.
