A--USAMRAA intends to issue a CR sole source contract under FAR 6.302-1(a)(2)(ii) on or about 01 July 2015 to Ultra Diagnostics, Inc on behalf of the United States Army Medical Materiel Agency (USAMMA).

The Contractor shall develop trans cranial ultrasound phased arrays that can provide brain tissue imaging noninvasively by using shear wave propagation through the skull. It is expected that the results will demonstrate trans-skull imaging capable of handling a wide variety of skull variation and determine the system resolution necessary to discriminate between various serious medical conditions. The Contractor shall develop and test different imaging pulse sequences and will be able to determine the most promising pulse sequence for future clinical testing. Previous clinical testing has shown that ultrasound echoes can be obtained in humans through intact skull bones such that brain shifts can be determined utilizing a single ultrasound beam providing a single line of echoes. This objective is to use the phased arrays to obtain complete two and three dimensional images of the brain tissue.
