Savannah River Nuclear Solutions, LLC (SRNS), managing contractor of the Savannah River Site (SRS) and the Savannah River National Laboratory (SRNL) for the Department of Energy, solicits expressions of interest from companies wishing to enter into a Funds-In Cooperative Research and Development Agreement (CRADA) to further develop the Biological Enhancement of Hydrocarbon Extraction (BioTiger TM ). Scientists at the SRNL have discovered a new environmental biocatalyst for improving the recovery of hydrocarbons entrained in sediments utilizing a patented consortium of microbes known as BioTiger TM . The technology is a method for microbial enhanced oil recovery for recovering oil from an oil-bearing rock formation. The methodology uses a consortium of bacteria including a mixture of surfactant producing bacteria and non-surfactant enzyme producing bacteria which may release hydrocarbons from bitumen containing sands. The described bioprocess can work with existing petroleum recovery protocols. The microorganisms are also useful for treatment of above ground oil sands, ground waste tailings, subsurface oil recovery, and similar materials to enhance remediation and/or recovery of additional hydrocarbons from the materials. BioTiger TM may also be useful in oil processing (cracking). US Patent No. 7,472,747 has issued on this technology. Any company interested in licensing this device or participating in a Funds-In CRADA must respond with a letter of interest (may be submitted by email) no later that 30 days from the publication date of this Notice summarizing the company's business and technical expertise and motivation for pursuing this opportunity. Qualified companies will be provided with further information on the technology. Questions and expressions of interest may be addressed to the Point of Contact identified in this Notice. This is not a procurement; it is a request for parties interested in Licensing this invention or participating in a Funds-In CRADA only. Original Point of Contact Dale K.
