However, all proposals received within five days after date of publication of this synopsis will be considered by the Government. A determination by the Government not to compete with this proposed contract based upon responses to this notice is solely within the discretion of the Government. Information received will normally be considered solely for the purpose of determining whether to conduct a competitive procurement. DEMONSTRATION THAT THE CONTRACTORS UNIQUE QUALIFICATIONS OR NATURE OF THE ACQUISITION REQUIRES THE USE OF THE AUTHORITY CITED ABOVE (APPLICABILITY OF AUTHORITY) The Symantec Veritas Volume Manager (VxVm) standard maintenance and support is developed by and owned by Symantec. USSOCOM requires Symantec Veritas Volume Manager (VxVm) support to keep our current Sun Solaris systems operational and current to protect USSOCOM Sun Solaris servers against unforeseen disk failure. Without this service, USSOCOM will not be able to effectively manage its Sun Solaris disk space that is being used to support current and future Oracle USSOCOM applications and databases. The Air Force has an ESI agreement with ImmixGroup, Inc (Company list at http://www.immixtechnology.com/docs/PDs/Symantec_PD_ESI.pdf) for Symantec software.
