Posting Date: January 26, 2007 Procurement Office: Surface Deployment and Distrobution Command (SDDC) Hoffman Building 2, 200 Stovall Street, Alexandria, VA Response Date: January 30, 2007 The Surface Deployment and Distrobution Command (SDDC) intends to award a sole source fixed price purchase order to Qualcomm, Inc., San Diego, CA to provide satellite positioning and messaging technology to commercial carriers of Arms, Ammunition, and Expl osives. The carriers contract with Qualcomm for hourly positions and DOD contracts to provide 3 extra positions per hour for more intransit visibility of the loads and increased security. Qualcomm Inc. is considered the only provider of this item. The est imated value of this procurement is $300,000.00 The proposed contract action is for services for which the Government intends to solicit and negotiate with only one source under the authority of FAR 6.302-1. At this time no other known sources are available and the effort to develop alternate sources fo r this requirement would result in significant additional costs to the Government that are not expected to be recovered through competition. However, interested persons may identify their interest and capability to respond to the requirement or submit prop osals. This notice of intent is not a request for competitive proposals, however all proposals received within three days after the date of publication of this synopsis will be considered by the Government. A determination by the Government not to compete with this proposed contract based upon responses to this notice is solely within the discretion of the Government.
