D -- On-Line Computer Library Service

On behalf of the Bureau of Transportation Statistics, TASC Acquisition Services anticipates awarding a sole source contract to the Online Computer Library Center, Inc. (OCLC). The purpose of the contract is to establish a deposit account that will permit the 12 libraries participating in the Midwestern Transportation Library Consortium to enter catalog records for their holdings into the OCLC WorldCat database, thus increasing the availability to the transportation community of unique and rare transportation materials. The Online Computer Library Center, Inc. being the largest library consortium in the world, and having the WorldCat database, (the most-consulted database in higher education) the Bureau of Transportation Statistics knows of no organization that provides this level of resources or services. This is not a request for proposals.
