Notice of Intent to award sole source contract for inspection and maintenance service of security and fire alarm systems

P11PE00643 Under the authority of FAR 6.302-1(a)(2)(i), the National Park Service intends to enter into negotiations with AFA Protective Systems on a sole source, non-competitive basis for Security and Fire Alarm Inspection and Maintenance Service at Adams National Historical Park in Quincy, MA. AFA Protective Systems is the local area representative and authorized dealer of the existing security system and owns the programming rights for the existing alarm panels. AFA Protective Systems has the technical expertise to work on both systems and is the current vendor for the fire and security alarm systems. It is in the best interest of the government to combine the inspection and maintenance of the fire and security systems under one vendor to protect the historic resources. Therefore, in accordance with the above cited authority, the government intends to enter into negotiations with AFA Protective Systems within 15 days after publication of this notice. The term of this contract is a base year from June 1, 2011 through May 31, 2012 with up to four one-year options to extend the terms and conditions through May 31, 2016. It is anticipated that the option years will be awarded to AFA Protective Systems without further notice pending satisfactory performance and availability of funds. This notice of intent is not a request for competitive proposals. A determination by the government not to compete this proposed contract based upon responses of this notice is solely within the discretion of the government. NAICS 561621, Security Systems Services.
