Law Enforcement Services at Chain of Lakes Recreation Area for McLean, Burleigh, & Sheridan Counties in North Dakota

It is the intent of the U.S. Bureau of Reclamation to award a sole source contract with the McLean County Sheriff's Office in North Dakota for the purpose of providing security surveillance and law enforcement support for Chain of Lakes Recreation Area, including New Johns, Heckers, East & West Park lakes for McLean, Burleigh, & Sheridan counties. A Justification and Approval has been prepared for this requirement. The Sheriff's Office has primary jurisdiction in McLean County and has expert knowledge of North Dakota and federal laws. The Sheriff is the primary source of law enforcement support and is empowered by the State of North Dakota with full arrest authority in McLean County. In addition, the Sheriff is the immediate emergency responder and is authorized by the State of North Dakota to carry firearms in the performance of duty. The agency's security program requirements mandate that armed law enforcement personnel be readily available to respond to any intrusion alarm, terrorist or domestic threat, or other criminal activity on a 24/7 basis. The Sheriff's Office is the only law enforcement agency who can immediately comply with and respond to the agency's Threat Condition Protective Measures for these facilities. This procurement will be awarded using Simplified Acquisition Procedures. The anticipated award date is March 26, 2010.
