Intent to Sole Source for laboratory supplies DNeasy and Mulitplex PCR Kits from Qiagen Inc.

The U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service, Region 7 (Alaska) intends to award a sole source procurement with one base year and four- one-year option periods to Qiagen Inc, to provide all consumables and supplies to support a government owned Qiaxtractor. Qiagen has proprietary rights to the DNeasy kits, Qiaxtractor, and the associated consumables. Changing suppliers would result in weeks of laboratory down-time while the laboratory re-optimizes its PCR conditions, which would result in additional services to reprogram and recaliberize all equipment.
