65--Maintenance, Repair and Parts JEOL USA JEM-1400 Transmission Electron Microscope System

The Department of Veterans Affairs, VA Medical Center, Portland, Oregon intends to award a sole source commercial purchase order to JEOL USA, Inc., 11 Dearborn Rd., Peabody, MA 01960. This proposed action is for JEM-1400 Transmission Electron Microscope System maintenance and repairs services including original equipment manufacturer (OEM) replacement parts at the Portland VA Medical Center. The VA intends to procure this requirement on a sole source basis in accordance with the statutory authority of 41 U.S.C. 253(c)(1) as implemented by FAR 6.303-2 and FAR 13.501 . This is not a request for competitive quotes and no solicitation will be issued; however, any firm that believes it can meet these requirements may give written notification to the Contracting Officer within 5 days from the date of the publication of this synopsis. Supporting evidence must be furnished in sufficient detail to demonstrate the ability to comply with the above requirements. Responses are due by 03/13/2014 4:00 pm EST. A determination by the Government not to compete this proposed contract based on responses to this notice is solely with the discretion of the Government.
