Pursuant to FAR 16.505(b)(2)(i)(B), the contract action must be issued on a sole-source basis since only one awardee is capable of providing the supplies or services required at the level of quality required because the supplies or services ordered are unique or highly specialized. As a result of competitive Solicitation N00019-15-R-2004, on 1 February 2018 AAR Aircraft Services, Inc was one of two awardees for P-8A Poseidon Airframe Depot Maintenance and Repair IDIQ contracts. The other awardee was The Boeing Company (Boeing). Each of the IDIQ contracts includes seven fiscal year ordering periods (i.e., Base Period and Option Periods 1 through 6). The IDIQ contracts provide for the contractors to annually compete against each other to be selected as the primary awardee resulting in obtaining orders to fulfill the majority of Government requirements for the ordering period. Relevant to fulfilling the requirements at hand, AAR was selected as the primary (and only) awardee for Option Period 2. This modification procures depot maintenance and repair of P-8A aircraft 168756 and establishes option items for depot maintenance and repair of P-8A aircraft 168757 at AAR’s Aircraft’s facility. The total dollar value of the awarded modification is $2,096,249.00 with performance to be completed on or before 31 July 2021. This notice is provided for information only.
