Embryo Collection and Incubation / Steelhead Research in Hood Canal, Washington

This publication serves as notice of intent to procure service from Washington State Department of Fish and Wildlife for the US Department of Commerce, NOAA, National Marine Fisheries Service to support hydraulic embryo sampling on the South Fork Skokomish River in Mason County from May through June 2013 to obtain eyed eggs for fish culture. It is estimate that this will require 10 sampling days and at least one contractor personnel for each trip. Eggs will be removed from previously identified redds and transported to a hatchery located within the Hood Canal disease management area to allow for transfer of the offspring back to the South Fork Skokomish River two years later. The contractor will obtain all appropriate permits and assure that all fishery co-management regulatory requirements for transfer have been met. Eggs from each redd-group will be kept in separate Heath trays until they are ponded into hatchery rearing tanks. Authority for sole-source purchase is 41 USC 253 (c) (1) only one responsible source and no other source will satify agency needs. This notice of intent is not a request for competitive proposals.
