The associated NAICS code for this procurement is 624190. The West Palm Beach Department of Veteran Affairs Medical Center (VAMC) intends to award a sole source procurement "bridge" contract for three months with a three month extension with The Volen Center to Adult Daycare services to eligible veterans. The Volen Center currently has a contract which will expire 04/30/2010. The bridge contract is needed to prevent a break in service, while the solicitation for a new contract is negotiated, reviewed, approved and awarded. AUTHORITY CITED: FAR 6.302-2 Unusual and compelling urgency. REASON FOR AUTHORITY: In accordance with FAR 6.302-2 Unusual and Compelling urgency the agency's need for the services is of such an unusual and compelling need the Government would be seriously injured if requirement is not met. The Volen Center currently provides services to 30 eligible beneficiaries; the current contract will expire on 04/30/2010. In accordance with FAR 6.302-2 a bridge contract will be established to provide uninterrupted patient care to 30 beneficiaries dependent upon Adult Daycare services .This contract extension is solely to cover services until the five year contract is completed. EFFORTS TO OBTAIN COMPETITION: This Notice of Intent is not a request for competitive quotes; however, any firm that believes it can meet the needs of this procurement may give written notification to the Contract Specialist, who will evaluate all responses received.
