The Department of Veterans Affairs, Network Contracting Office 7, intends to negotiate a multi-year sole-source contract with the Medical University of South Carolina (MUSC), Division of Lab Animal Resources, 114 Doughty St. Rm 648, Charleston, SC 29425-0001, on or around February 22, 2013 to provide Animal Services at the Ralph H. Johnson VA Medical Center. The contractor supporting the Animal Services will perform duties which include: Veterinary back-up support - Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine specialist boarded in Laboratory Animal Medicine during times attending veterinarian is unavailable, to include some weekend call duties. Husbandry back-up support - American Association of Laboratory Animal Science (AALAS) qualified Animal Technician to provide support as needed. Technical back-up support -Technician with AALAS certification to perform duties such as oral administration, blood drawing, and injections as needed. Sentinel animal monitoring program - Requires services of a Laboratory Animal Technologist and a Veterinary Pathologist. Cage wash services - operating complex machinery used to disinfect and sterilize the cages NAICS Code: 621511 Medical Laboratories (Size Standard $30.0 Million) This proposed procurement is for services for which the government intends to solicit and negotiate with only one source in accordance with FAR 6.302-1(b)(1)(i), Only One Responsible Source and no Other Supplies or Services will Satisfy Agency Requirements.
