Eval of tooth Staining following Doxycycline Administration in Children for Tearment of Rocky Mtn Spotted Fever in East AZ

This is a notice of intent to award a sole-source purchase order and is not a request for competitive proposals. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention Division of Vector-Borne Infectious Diseases, intends to issue a sole source purchase order to Dr. Don Marianos, DDS, MPH, 3141 Lake View Drive Pinetop, AZ 85935-8321. The Government intends to solicit, negotiate and award to only one contractor using other than full and open competition procedures pursuant to the authority of FAR 13.106-1(b)(1). The NAICS code for this acquisition is 621210 and the small business size standard is 500 employees. This requirement will be procured under the guidelines of FAR Part 12, Commercial Items. Award will be made using Simplified Acquisition Procedures, FAR Part 13. The research study requires expert technical consultation to improve data collection, and extensive knowledge and experience working with this American Indian population This consultant can provide the level of technical consultation and experience required to perform all of the requirements of the doxycycline tooth staining study. Dr Marianos is knowledgeable and has experience in working with infection control prcedures, epidemiologic studies and dentistry wit in the American Indian population as a former Indian Health Service dentist. Additionally, the consultant resides in Pinetop, Arizona, just outside the reservation where the study will be performed, allowing for efficient pre-study logistical c oordination. A determination by the CDC not to compete this proposed contract, based upon responses to this notification, is solely within the discretion of the Contracting Officer.
