Through R&D at Sandia National Laboratories (SNL), a suite of nanostructured composite materials has been developed for entrapping gases and anions. This technology can apply to nuclear fuel reprocessing, radioactive/non-radioactive waste management, chemical separation/concentration, water treatment, and other chemical industries. These nanostructured composite materials are synthesized from low-cost sources utilizing methods that can be scaled up for large quantity production. The technology includes one issued and two pending patents. Sandia’s primary focus is in seeking a company or companies interested in partnering opportunities leading to licensing and commercial manufacturing of this technology. Partnerships may take the form of Cooperative Research & Development Agreements (CRADA) and/ or commercial licenses. Commercial licensees will have the option to obtain, up to and including, an exclusive license to the intellectual property in a pre-negotiated, defined field of use for reasonable compensation. CRADAs are expected to include funds-in to Sandia.
