Notice of Intent to Sole Source The proposed contract action is for Research for the Central Texas VAMC in Temple, Tx for which the Government intends to solicit and negotiate with only one source under the authority FAR 6.302-1 Only One Responsible Source. The service requested of the CTVHCS academic affiliate, UT-Austin Mass Spectroscopy Core Facility, is highly unique in that it requires the use of a rare and specialized piece of instrument (timsTOFfleX, Bruker) to perform deep SpatialOMx analysis on tissue samples. Only a few of these machines exist in the United States. We are very fortunate that our academic affiliate at UT-Austin has this instrument. The next closest instrument is 850 miles (RT) from CTVHCS. For this reason, this request is being limited to only one source. THIS NOTICE OF INTENT IS NOT A REQUEST FOR COMPETITIVE PROPOSALS. It is a market research tool being used to determine the availability of other qualified sources that can meet the requirements identified above and inherent with the referenced product. The Government is not obligated to and shall not pay for any information received from potential sources as a result of this notice of intent. All responses received within 5 days of the posting of this notice will be considered by the Government. A determination by the Government to require these specific services for VA Central Texas Temple Healthcare Systems, procurements based on this notice is solely within the discretion of the Government. Information received will normally be considered solely for the purposes of determining whether other qualified providers are available.
