On a SOLE-SOURCE basis, the U.S. Department of Transportation (DOT's) Office of the Secretary, Acquisitions Services plans to make a sole source award to Washington Metro Area Transit Authority (WMATA), for the issuance of virtual fare media and Smart Benefits - Parking in support of the Federal Government Transit Benefit Program, currently ran by the Department of Transportation TRANServe Office. USDOT has no other option for purchasing fare media from WMATA, because they are the sole transit authority for the Greater Washington DC region. Although the Government will continue to evaluate, on an ongoing basis, any interest shown by sources interested in competing for this requirement on subsequent acquisitions, it is not expected that any vendor other than WMATA will be able to provide this product. Nevertheless, any entity, other than WMATA, which believes they can provide the needed fare media products to TRANServe, shall submit a capability statement to
