--BioRobot EZ1 from Qiagen to support the Armed Forces Institute of Pathology (AFIP) mission.

A contract to Qiagen is planned to purchase a BioRobot EZ1. The BioRobot EZ1 is designed for automated isolation of nucleic acids from a wide variety of forensic sample types. Only Qiagen offers the combination of full walk-away automation with pro ven self-contained sealed reagent strip chemistries, combined with forensic protocols to meet all forensic sample types analyzed in the lab for the isolation of gDNA or total RNA. All of these factors with allow the Massachusetts State Police DNA Crime Lab to process trace and reference samples in a validated and effective environment.
