Notice of Intent to Sole Source Reagents at Lexington VA Medical Center, KY This notice of intent is not a request for competitive quotes, proposals, or bids. This notice is in accordance with (IAW) FAR 5.201(b)(1)(i). The Department of Veterans Affair s NCO-9, intends to issue a sole source firm-fixed priced purchase order to Straumann Company, unless an interested party can refute the market research conducted. IAW 41 U.S.C. 3304(a)(1) / FAR 6.302-1- Only One Responsible Source and No Other Supplies or Services Will Satisfy Agency Requirements. Straumann Company is the exclusive distributor of the CARES Digital Solutions for dentists consisting of the following name brand items: 3Shape Trios 3 Intraoral Scanner and Design Studio software Straumann CARES C series Mill Device used with CARES Visual software Lexington VA Medical Center s Dental [Customer] does not possess or use any system like this. Customer s market research determined the following: No other manufacturer s digital dentistry system is FDA approved and validated, fully-autoclavable, and fully-compliant with customer s sterilization protocols. Immediate implementation of this system will save hundreds of thousands of dollars annually, increase efficiency of patient care, and improve staff workload. This procurement is being conducted FAR 13.106-1(b). The NAICS code is 339114 and has a size standard of 750 employees. SCOPE OF WORK: Customer is expanding and improving its dental care and operations. Procurement of this system is only a part of a larger plan for Fiscal Year (FY) 2019 to bring digital and other innovative technologies to the customer s dental field. Procuring this system will require training of its staff in the system s operation and maintenance, and initial procurement of necessary expendable supplies. No options were considered.
