65--Synthes Distal Fibula PL Instrument and Implant Set This is not a Request for Quote. It is a Notice that the Government is intending on making a Sole Source award to Amercian Medical Depot for above Synthes USA Products.

The VA Pittsburgh Healthcare System intends to negotiate on a Sole Source basis with American Medical Depot, 4380 NW 135th Street, Miami, FL 33054, to purchase a Synthes USA Distal Fibula PL Instrument and Implant Set (Item##01.112.077), estimated at $79,574, for the following reasons: It is essential to purchase the above referenced Synthes USA Distal Fibula PL Instrument and Implant Set, which are highly specialized stents (Orthopedic Appliances), to use with same equipment currently being used by the VA Pittsburgh Healthcare System, since these items will only fit/work with the Synthes USA instruments the VA Pittsburgh Healthcare System currently has. In addition, per VAAR 806.302-5 (b) (1), the Department of Veterans Affairs has authority under 41 USC 253 (c) (5) and 38 U.S.C. 8123 to purchase Orthopedic appliances without providing for full and open competition, therefore award will be made to American Medical Depot on a Sole Source basis, particularly being they are a Small Business, and only one of two authorized re-sellers of the above mentioned Synthes USA products, and only Small Business re-seller that can offer the same price as Synthes USA, along with the needed Warranty and other required Delivery and On-Site Support Services through Synthes USA..
