The Department of Veterans Affairs, Network Contracting Office 15 intends to award a sole source contract under the authority of 41 U.S.C 253(c) (1) FAR 13.106-1(b) Soliciting from a Single Source to Baxter Healthcare Corporation located at 1 Baxter PKWY, Deerfield, IL 60015 under unusual and compelling urgency. The VA St. Louis Health Care System is in need of new continuous renal replacement therapy (CRRT) systems. CRRT is the preferred modality for treating critically ill patients with acute kidney injury (AKI). The number of patients presenting with AKI is expected to increase due to the spread of COVID-19 and our current units are already due for replacement. Therefore, they must be replaced to ensure our capacity to treat patients with AKI is not exceeded. This document highlights the technical specifications and services being requested by the facility for consideration towards purchase of this equipment.
