The VA Pittsburgh Healthcare System intends to negotiate on a Sole Source basis with Spacesaver Storage Systems, Inc., 1450 Janesville Avenue, Fort Atkinson, WI 53538-2706, to purchase their Mobile Shelving, for the following reasons: It is essential for the VA Pittsburgh Healthcare System, to purchase the Spacesaver Corporation Mobile Shelving Units, since it has the following features that are essential to the Government, that are not available in another manufacturer's similar product. (See email from Kyra Tucker under DP03 of the Purchase Request Action, in the Contract File.) " Compatibility with majority of existing equipment in Pittsburgh VA System-for ability to share parts & reconfigurations. " Heavy Duty carriages to support anticipated GIP loads, carriages carry a minimum load of 1,000 lb. per carriage ft. " Rails that have no gaps along rail edges for sterile environment-Center Flange Guide is proprietary to Spacesaver. " Carriages have steel lips to secure the shelving posts. " Carriages have accessible chain tensioning devices that can be adjusted without removal of the face panels. " Rails are one piece structural steel and cannot separate from any base rail channels. " Spacesaver is 1SO 9001-2008 Certified It is also essential to purchase the Spacesaver Corporation Mobile Shelving Units, from Spacesaver Corporation, since they are the Sole Exclusive Seller of their items in the Pittsburgh, PA area. It is also essential to have Spacesaver install the items, since they are the sole installer of their items in the Pittsburgh, PA area, through their authorized installer Diversified Storage, who is their exclusive installer in the Pittsburgh area, and since the Government requires a Turnkey furnish and install job, as it's minimum need.
