THIS IS A REQUEST FOR INFORMATION. THERE IS CURRENTLY NO SOLICITATION PACKAGE AVAILABLE. NAVAIR Patuxent River is seeking information and industry comments/feedback regarding solid state mass memory technologies/products suitable for military avionics applications. The technologies/products provided must be at a Technology Readiness Level (TRL) of 6 or higher. The long term goal is to incorporate the above mentioned technologies/products into a highly reconfigurable, stand-alone, network-based Mass Memory Unit (MMU). Fundamental to the concept of an MMU is a Removable Storage Media (RSM) sub-assembly. The MMU will likely consist of a single Weapon Replaceable Assembly (WRA).a) The MMU should be capable of providing some or all of the following features and/or characteristics: 1) accommodate removable solid state memory modules (RSMs) 2) provide non-volatile memory for airborne data and video recording and storage 3) support multiple digital video inputs, storage of streaming video, real-time video compression, and file management systems 4) support still image capture of incoming video stream and still image playback over dedicated digital video output 5) support storage of correlated video/image META-Data 6) support multiple audio channel recording 7) be able to execute BIT and report status 8) support reading and writing to mass Removable Storage Media (RSM), including RSM to RSM copying 9) support random access into pre-stored database information 10) support provisions for non-removable memory segments 11) support rapid zeroization of selected (including all) RSM and static files/data 12) support RSMs that contain different classification levels of data and the ability to access them independently over dedicated interfaces 13) communicate with the mission computer and other avionics via Gig Ethernet (GbE) Bus interface(s) 14) provide provisions for multiple Gig Ethernet interfaces 15) support bootloading of avionics systems from files located in RMS (b) The RSM should provide some or all of the following features and/or characteristics: 1) support pre-flight loading using standard widely used commercial interfaces (e.g. USB, Firewire, 10/100/1000 BaseT Ethernet, Fibre Channel, Ultra-SCSI, etc.) 2) be capable of being loaded and removed via an environmentally sealed door on the front of the MMU with or without power applied to the aircraft 3) provide a minimum available capacity of 125 GB of non-volatile memory 4) be scalable up to 500 GB of non-volatile memory 5) support high speed zeroization 6) support autonomous zeroization after loss of primary system power Firms with existing products that have the capability to support some or all of the above features are requested to submit product information.
