The Birmingham Veterans Affairs Medical Center, Department of Veterans Affairs, VISN 7, Birmingham, AL intends to negotiate a sole source procurement under the authority of FAR 6.302-1, with Cepheid 904 Caribbean Drive, Sunnyvale, CA 94089. The proposed contract action is for the purchase of a GeneXpert system, 4 site desktop computer and GeneXpert MRSA Assay. This GeneXpert system allows automated sample extraction and real-time PCR analysis. It must have multiplex capability and be able to run different tests at the same time. The system should be internally controlled to obviate need of operator to set up new controls for each test or specimen. It has simplicity and ease of use for 24/7 deployability and sustainability.
