Notice of Intent to Sole Source for GridION Flow Cells and Related-Laboratory Supplies

The United States Department of Agriculture (USDA), Animal Plant Health Inspection Services (APHIS), Foreign Animal Disease Diagnostic Laboratory (FADDL) in Orient, NY intends to award a sole source Purchase Order to Oxford Nanopore Technologies, Inc. located in Cambridge, MA for the items listed in this Special Notice. This purchase will be conducted under the authority of FAR 13.106(b)(1)(i) to support the emergency control of an African Swine Fever outbreak in the Dominican Republic. Oxford Nanopore Technologies, Inc. is the equipment manufacturer and the only authorized source for this purchase. Only limited market research for alternatives has been completed at this time. Due to the urgent nature of this high consequence pathogen detection, rapid procurement is needed to support the initial expanded emergency testing of host nation livestock. The Oxford Nanopore Technologies, Inc. lab supplies work well with the sequencing equipment the FADDL uses to ensure the success of African Swine Fever detection in collected samples. The overall mission of FADDL programs is to protect U.S. agriculture by blocking the spread of foreign pathogens when outbreaks occur. The Oxford Nanopore Technologies, Inc.
