The Department of the Army, Healthcare Acquisition Activity- North intends to negotiate a Sole Source commercial item procurement with AutoMed Technologies, Inc, Amerisource Bergen, to provide Generation V upgrade to OptiFill II. The upgrade includes all PPS system servers, workstations and peripherals with current Dell models; new workstation barcode scanners and label printers; System Server: Windows Server 2008, Workstations: Windows 7, Database: Oracle 11g; New OF1/OF2 filling machine PLC processors and switches; System configuration; database migration; testing, onsite installation and training; and Diacap certification. This proposed procurement is for supplies for which the government intends to solicit and negotiate with only one source under the authority of FAR 6.302. This notice of intent is not a request for competitive quotes. AutoMed Technologies, Inc. is the only vendor to supply this high performance central prescription fill operation that is an automated and process management system. The PPS Management System is proprietary information which has been configured specifically to the needs of MacDill AFB and integrates and manages all aspects of the fulfillment process including barcode validation, automated oral solid filling, manual filling, checking, and packing, as well as order control and reporting. This procurement includes Diacap certification to allow AutoMed the capabilities of remote technical support and remote access to push OS patches and updates without interrupting operations. The upgrade comes equipped with dual servers which prevents total work stoppages in the event of server failure. The Optifill II refill system is currently in use at MacDill AFB for the past six years, which is the maximum life span for IT and APO's computers and system components. The current system contains components that will soon be obsolete, thereby minimizing the level of technical support that can be provided by AutoMed. The Generation V upgrade is required to update the current operating system, computers, monitors, scanner, and IT support needed to bring the system current and running at optimal functionality to support the 20,000+ beneficiaries served monthly at the PharmaCare Refill clinic.
