Project Title: Haas Universal Milling Center (UMC) 750SS Reference Number: FA487719QU015 1. Intent to Sole-Source. The 355th Contracting Squadron, Davis Monthan Air Force Base, hereby submits an intent to sole source notice. The Government intends to award a firm-fixed-priced contract to Phillips Corporation, doing business as Federal Division, for a Hass Universal Milling Center (UMC) 750SS and training. This procurement action is being conducted in accordance with FAR 6.302-1-Only One Responsible Source and No Other Supplies or Services Will Satisfy the Requirement. This document does not constitute a request for quotation, proposal, or bid. 2. Description of Action. An extended description of the supplies/services to be acquired is as follows: a. Super Speed 5-Axis Vertical Machining Center. b. Expanded on-board solid-state memory allowing storing, running and editing programs which works directly with the Hass machine. c. Programmable coolant nozzle that automatically directs coolant to the cutting tool. d. Belt-type chip conveyor which removes and discharges chips from machine. e. Accessory tooling block utilized to locate tap holders, speeders and coolant inducers. f. HaasCNC UMC productivity improvement training course for 355 EMS personnel who will be using the Haas Milling Center Machine to perform their duties at Davis Monthan AFB. g. 5th Axis Rocklock 96mm package, UMC750, V562 which includes various tools and auxiliary equipment needed to create custom, functional parts utilized at the 355th EMS. h. Enclosure exhaust system to keep the Hass 5-Axis Machine's interior cool throughout tooling process. i. UID Tags 3. Interested Vendors. Firms who desire to challenge this sole source action must submit an interest letter (email is acceptable) that demonstrates technical expertise, certifications, and authorization to compete for this acquisition. The letter must include a clear and convincing statement that competition would be advantageous to the Government, and will not be cost or time prohibitive. The determination not to compete this proposed contract action is solely within the discretion of the Government. Information received will be evaluated as to confirm or deny the decision to conduct a competitive procurement.
