Banbury Internal Batch Mixer

AFRL is seeking acquisition of a Banbury mixer or similar configuration with a volume capacity of 1.5-2.0 liters (4-5 pounds or 1800-2300 grams) to facilitate execution of its current R&D portfolio involving solid rocket motors. The minimum Government agency specifications for a suitable Banbury Internal Batch Mixer are as follows: 1) A rubber internal batch mixer capable of producing 1.5 - 2.0 liters per batch, in a Banbury type configuration or similar in terms of efficacy; 2) Ability to regulate mixing chamber temperature between 50 degrees and 250 degrees Fahrenheit; 3) Hydraulically operated discharge doors on front and back side of mixing chamber for ease of use/cleaning; 4) Hydraulically operated discharge door locks for safety; 5) Hydraulically operated dust stop assemblies to ensure effective sealing of the mixing chamber; 6) Safety controls to include manual reset, on both sides of the mixing chamber (front and rear); 7) Knee safety plates that cut power when pressed by operator for enhanced operational safety; 8) Discharge door safety mechanism that cuts power to mixer when doors are in the open position; 9) Safety controls that enable jogging of the mixer rotors when the discharge doors are in the open position; and 10) Touch screen control interface with capabilities to save temperature and torque process data and output that data to a computer. 11) Power supply of 3 phase 480 V or 3 phase 208 V. 12) If any cooling is required, capability for mixer to except cooling fluids from a recirculating chiller.
