Procurement is for one (1) Veeco SPECTOR Dual Ion Beam Optical Deposition System, capable of depositing low loss optical films, including tantalum pentoxide (Ta2O5, hereafter tantala) and meeting the requirements for low optical scattering and absorption loss. The tool must be able to deposit Ta2O5 films with an optical absorption of less than 10 ppm at 1064 nm with a thickness uniformity of better than 0.5% (range over mean) across a 200 mm sample with a 5 mm edge exclusion zone on an appropriate substrate holder. Research has found that only one (1) company can offer an IBS system that is capable of meeting all specifications, including the low optical absorption loss, as stated above.
