--Intent to negotiate sole source award for purchase of membrane doors that are resistant to chemical and biological agents.

Under the authority of FAR 15, the U.S. Army Natick Contracting Division, Kansas Street, Natick, MA on behalf of the United States Army-Soldier Systems Center, Natick, MA intends to negotiate and award a purchase order on a sole source basis with Pro duction Products Manufacturing and Sales(of St. Louis, MO 63138). This order will be for supply and delivery of doors with membrane liners that are protective of human health and safety in the presence of chemical and biological agents. The doors were pre viously designed and are being manufactured for the U.S. Army under an existing contract. Award of this contract to a different contractor would require certification testing of the new door in order to prove its chemical and biological resistance; the co st of this testing would exceed the cost of this contract and delay delivery of the items by approximately six months. THIS IS NOT A REQUEST FOR PROPOSAL. A determination by the Government not to compete this proposed contract based upon responses is solely within the discretion of the Government. Information received will be considered solely for the purpose of determin ing whether or not to conduct a competitive procurement.
