65 -- Purchase of Research-Grade Plasmids for Continuation of Ongoing Primate Vaccine Study

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention intends to issue a sole source purchase order to Aldevron LLC, 3233 15th Street S., Fargo, ND 58104-6147, for an additional supply of DNA vaccine for continuation of a vaccine trial in primates. This vaccine is research-grade manufacture of 6 plasmids at 100 mg per and includes standard QC testing with concentration determined by UV spectrophotometry. Plasmids are as follows: PVAX-DEN-1-i, 5 kb, Kanamycin resistant, endotoxin requirement <100, final concentration 5, final buffer Water; PVAX-DEN-2-i, 5 kb, Kanamycin resistant, endotoxin requirement <100, final concentration 5, final buffer Water; PVAX-DEN-3-i, 5 kb, Kanamycin resistant, endotoxin requirement <100, final concentration 5, final buffer Water; PVAX-DEN-4-i, 5 kb, Kanamycin resistant, endotoxin requirement <100, final concentration 5, final buffer Water; PVAX-JE-i, 5 kb, Kanamycin resistant, endotoxin requirement <100, final concentration 5, final buffer Water; and PVAX-WN-i, 5 kb, Kanamycin resistant, endotoxin requirement <100, final concentration 5, final buffer Water. CDC is supplying cell bank vials that have been verified to have the correct sequence and verified plasmid stock for QC assays as needed. These growth conditions provided by CDC will be used in efforts to maintain sequence integrity, which must be maintained so as not to negate previous results. CDC believes that this requirement is met by only one provider. This procurement will be processed under the authority of FAR 6.302-1 and 6.302-2. Only one responsible source and no other sources will satisfy agency requirements. No solicitation is being issued.
