The Department of Veterans Affairs Mid Atlantic Health Care Network (VISN 6) intends to negotiate a sole source procurement with Cepheid for laboratory molecular diagnostic analyzer reagent kits to detect Tuberculosis (TB) and Rifampin (RIF) resistant TB for the Microbiology Laboratory in Durham, NC. Delivery to be scheduled for August 2014. The proposed procurement is for reagent kits that can be used with the existing Cepheid GeneXpert® PCR equipment. The government intends to solicit and negotiate with only one source under the authority of FAR 6.302-1. This notice of intent to sole source is not a request for competitive quotes. However, interested parties may identify their interest and capability to respond to this requirement no later than 4:30 PM EST, August 15, 2014. Interested parties must submit all specification information required to make a determination that the proposed reagent kits are compatible with the existing equipment. A determination by the Government not to compete this proposed contract based on responses to this notice is solely within the discretion of the Government. The NAICS CODE IS 325413 with a size standard of 500 employees. Information received will be considered solely for the purpose of determining whether to conduct a competitive procurement.
