6550--Notice of Intent to Sole Source Award for Blood Bank Analyzer and Reagents (520 0009)

INTENT TO SOLE SOURCE The Department of Veterans Affairs hereby submits a notice of intent to award a sole source firm-fixed price contract for red blood cell reagents to Ortho-Clinical Diagnostics Inc. for the Gulf Coast Veterans Health Care System, Biloxi, Mississippi 39531. The reagents will be used to properly test, type, and supply blood and blood products throughout the Medical Center. The anticipated award will be for one-year effective October 1, 2022. The NAICS code for this requirement is 325413 and the small business size standard is 1,250 employees. The anticipated sole source award is in accordance with FAR13.106-1(b). A single source justification has been prepared. The facility owns and has installed the Ortho Clinical Micro Typing System Workstations, which are used to perform the blood cell tests. The instruments are proprietary to Ortho Clinical Diagnostics, Inc. The systems and reagents are FDA approved to work in unison to provide the patient test performed by the lab department. No other reagents are compatible nor approved to be performed on this equipment.
