Triple F Farms is the only known vendor of specific pathogen-free ferrets for biomedical research in the geographical area. This animal model is for the study of influenza, which is susceptible to human influenza viruses and they can develop some of the symptoms of influenza that are seen in humans. This purchase from Triple F Farms is to ensure continuity of research on pandemic influenza that is being performed in the lab. This will be a firm-fixed price contract in accordance with the statutory authority for this sole source requirement 41 U.S.C. 253 (c) (1) as implemented by FAR 6.302-1 only one source available, no substitutions possible.
