The oklahoma Area Indian Health Service is researching the market for qualified vendors (tribally owned, Indian owned and/or privately owned) located in Kansas to provide non-medical, residential treatment, halfway house services to Native Americans residing in and around the Holton, Kansas area. Halfway house is a non-medical, residential treatment program designed to facilitate the rehabilitation by placing the alcohol/substance abuser clients in an organized therapeutic environment. This type of environment provides diagnostic services, individual and group counseling, group support sessions, and vocational and/or employment services and a structured social and recreational activities. Clients who are detoxified and have adequate knowledge of facts and skills taught in the primary residential treatment are suitable for admission to a halfway house. The halfway house program is designed to assist the client to practice and develop independent living skills needed to function in a sober lifestyle.
