D--NEW ACTION: AITC Offsite Storage of Disaster Recovery Material, FY14 Follow-On

Background: The Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) Austin Information Technology Center (AITC) requires services of an offsite storage facility. The services are needed to meet disaster recovery requirements. Requirement: In order to meet the requirements of disaster recovery, the AITC must procure the services of an offsite storage facility. This facility shall provide the safe and secure storage of disaster recovery materials in the event that a catastrophic event renders the AITC's materials processing inoperative or the AITC facility inaccessible. The contractor shall provide secure transportation of the materials from the AITC to the storage facility on a daily basis. All tapes will be transported in locked storage containers. The AITC will supply the containers and locks. Contractor shall provide two copies of shipping and receiving receipts: one for AITC records and one for storage facility's records. In the event of a catastrophic event at the AITC, the contractor shall provide secure transportation of the materials from the storage facility to the designated location specified by the AITC. If a location specified by the AITC is more than 15miles, transportation shall be provided by FEDEX White glove at the expense of the AITC. Responses: Responses from interested contractors shall provide adequate information in order for VA to verify contractor's capability to meet the requirements of the performance work statement. Please note two critical requirements of the performance work statement: 1. Contractor must have 24/7 (including weekends and holidays) capability to deliver callbacks within two hours. 2. In order to mitigate the risk of a catastrophe which affects both the AITC and their offsite storage facility, the storage facility must be a minimum of 10 miles away from the AITC.
