ITEM DESCRIPTION The Drive shaft assembly is installed between the engine adapters mounted on the engine reduction gearbox and transmission input drive quill. The Drive Shaft Assembly is an aluminum tube with flex couplings bolted to each end to provide flexibility between the engine and transmission. Drive Shaft Assembly couplings are attached to the engine adapter and transmission input drive quill by bolts. Impediment to Competition: The original equipment manufacturer for this item is Bell Helicopter Textron INC. (CAGE 97499), which maintains its configuration by part number and software version. The Government does not own any data, drawings, schematics, or any other releasable technical data in support of this requirement. As a result, Bell Helicopter Textron INC. is the only known source with adequate knowledge of the Drive Shaft Assembly performance requirements and possession of the required technical data and capabilities needed to produce this item and ensure compatibility of the equipment. INTEREST The DLA/AWB Contracting Office intends to award a sole source contract to Bell Helicopter Textron INC. for the manufacture of the Drive Shaft Assembly in support of the UH-1N helicopter program.
