66--POLYETHYLENE AND POLYPROPYLENE BOTTLES AND CAPS

The U.S. Geological Survey, National Water Quality Laboratory has a requirement for raw and precleaned bottles and caps for field analysis which are to be used as shipping containers for water samples from field offices to the National Water Quality Laboratory. Bottle specifications will be completely identified in the solicitation. In general, the contractor shall provide bottles and closures (caps) for use as shipping containers for water samples from U.S. Geological Survey field offices to the National Water Quality Laboratory. The bottles to be supplied shall be of modern round high density polyethylene (HDPE) bottles and closures (caps/lids) and straight sided, high density polypropylene bottles (jars) and closures (caps/lids), clear/natural in color and also amber in color. Four of the bottles sizes are required to be pre-cleaned with a 10% nitric acid rinse and shall provide a "Certificate of Process" with pre-cleaned labels of lot number and container number for each bottle. The bottle sizes are 125, 250, 500 and 1,000 milliliter (ml) sizes. All bottles shall meet National Water Quality Laboratory Quality Standards as identified in the specifications. The supplies described herein and in the specifications are considered to be commercial item. Therefore, procedures as described under FAR subpart 13.5 apply to this procurement. It is anticipated that this contract will be for a twelve (12) month base year with four additional 12-month option years. The NAICS code is 326160. The USGS is in search of small business firms who are able to provide the above mentioned products. Small business firms who feel they can furnish the required product are invited to submit in writing an affirmative response to this announcement. An affirmative response would include literature, brochures and such other materials, which correspond to the required product stated herein. This information will be evaluated and used to determine if competitive opportunities exist. Since no solicitation document exists, request for such documents without accompanying information will be considered non-responsive to this request.
