The U.S.M.A. West Point, NY is seeking sources for a vendor to provide BLACK MOHAIR BRAID per the specification attached. The quantity will be 1,728 YARDS for the 2 inch braid and 12,240 YARDS for the 1 inch braid. As a summation of the specifications attached, there are two types of Flat-Braid that are described in the attached Commercial Item Description A-A-55187 along with the all important Deviation thereto also attached. First, is a request for 1,728 Yards (12 Gross-Yards) of our raw material item # TR0036 which is a 2 inch wide, Black, Type-1, Class-1 (3/3 plain-stitch [aka: Hercules]) or class-3 (2/2 plain-stitch) Mohair Braid (both classes are acceptable); and the other is for 12,240 Yds (85 Gross-Yards) of our raw material item # TR0037 which is a 1 inch wide, Black, and again, Type-1, Class-1 or class-3 Mohair Braid. Both classes are acceptable for either item. Deviation is statement from 2006 in which we deem either Class-1 or Class-3 stitch patterns as acceptable for our end purposes. FYI these Braids are used in making Dress Coats for the United States Corps of Cadets, 2 inch on men's collars and 1 inch everywhere else on a Dress Coat. Interested sources are requested to submit an email showing how they can meet the existing requirement. Sources must sufficiently demonstrate the capability to perform these services and must provide detailed experience and qualifications in all previous work pertinent to this effort. This is not a Request for Proposal or an announcement of a solicitation. Your responses will be used solely for market research purposes of the Government. The Government will not pay for any materials provided in response to this notice and submittals will not be returned to the sender.
