The work will provide services for the fabrication and delivery of a new modular and removable structural steel roof system to cover the head end of Dry Dock #2 located at the Portsmouth Naval Shipyard on Seavey Island in Kittery, Maine. Scope of work includes: 1.New components and the modification of existing components to work with the new components. a. New components include fixed roof sections, operable roof sections, and a long-span roof truss. b. New components are primarily built of tubular steel. c. The estimated quantity of fabricated steel is approximately 100 tons. 2.Existing components to be modified include modular towers, fixed roof sections and a long-span truss. 3.A majority of the new work will need to be performed off site. Components are too large to be delivered over land, so barge delivery is anticipated, and will be the responsibility of the Contractor. 4.Some modifications will need to be performed with very limited on-site laydown space, while other components requiring modification will require removal from the Shipyard. a. It is anticipated that these components can be trucked to and from the Shipyard. The estimated magnitude of work for this project is between $1,000,000 and $5,000,000. The Procurement Method is Sealed Bidding, FAR Part 14. The North American Industry Classification System (NAICS) Code for this procurement is 238120 and the annual size standard is $15,000,000. One of the main functions of this synopsis is to assist the Contracting Officer in determining whether a directed Small Business Set-aside is an acceptable strategy for this procurement.
