INSPECTION AND QUALITY ASSURANCE SUPPORT SERVICES

As a part of the U.S. Public Health Service under the Department of Health and Human Services, the National Institutes of Health (NIH) is the Federal Government’s primary biomedical research agency. The NIH’s mission is to seek fundamental knowledge about the nature and behavior of living systems and the application of that knowledge to enhance health, lengthen life, and reduce the burdens of illness and disability. Composed of 27 Institutes and Centers, the NIH provides leadership and financial support to researchers in every state and throughout the world. The NIH Office of Research Facilities (ORF) supports the NIH mission by providing, maintaining, and operating safe, healthy, and attractive facilities. Within ORF, the Division of Design and Construction Management (DDCM) is responsible for the oversight of the design, construction, demolition, modification, renovation and repair of all NIH facilities and infrastructure. In turn, DDCM’s Design and Technical Services Branch (DTSB) provides the necessary inspection and quality assurance support services to manage the construction.
