Clear H2o hydrogel, 50/case Case 5 5 5 5 All feed must be of research grade in accordance with the standards of the Guide for the Care and Use of Laboratory Animals (1996, www.nap.edu/readingroom/books/labrats/) and the Association for the Assessment of Laboratory Animal Care (AAALAC), International. Contractor must store, maintain and transport animal feed in accordance with regulations set forth by the Office of Laboratory Animal Welfare/National Institutes of Health (grants.nih.gov/grants/olaw/references/PHSPolicyLabAnimals.pdf), the Department of Veterans Affairs (www1.va.gov/vhapublications/ViewPublication.asp?pub_ID=1268), and the United States Department of Agriculture (www.nal.usda.gov/awic/legislat/usdaleg1.htm), in addition to the standards of the Guide for the Care and Use of Laboratory Animals. This is required so that the facility can maintain its accreditation with AAALAC as mandated by the DVA Office of Research and Development (www1.va.gov/vhapublications/ViewPublication.asp?pub_ID=1268). Contractor will allow at least annual inspection of their facilities by the Government to ensure compliance with these regulations. Laboratory bedding shall contain no hydrocarbons or pesticides. Brand Name products are required as specified and no equal substitutions will be considered. Alternation of the ingredients makeup is not allowed as any changes could negatively impact the outcome of research project results. The same diet, with no changes, is required throughout the research term. The indicated size bag is required to allow appropriate storage at the Government site and to assist in the steps taken to prevent injuries in compliance with local and federal occupational health and safety regulations. Milling date and product composition must be indicated on all containers of feed. The milling date must be current and must be no more than forty five (45) days prior to delivery. Bags shall be whole and intact, free of any punctures, rips or tears, and otherwise undamaged upon delivery. All other packaging (boxes, cans, cases) shall also be free of any punctures, rips, tears, dents, and otherwise undamaged upon delivery. Any product found to be unacceptable upon examination will be refused by the Government and shall be replaced by the Contractor. Any cost incurred shall be borne by the Contractor and shall not be reimbursed by the Government. DELIVERIES: Deliveries to Portland - Deliveries will be accepted at the Veterinary Medical Unit, Building 101, between the hours of 8:00 am and 12:00 noon, Monday through Friday, excluding federal holidays. The Animal Facility Supervisor (DeLynn Rohrbacher) or the Supply Order Clerk (Joy Gallagher) will place all feed and bedding orders. Orders will be placed weekly by telephone. Substitute items will be allowed only on the approval of the Animal Facility Supervisor (503-220-8262, x57963) or the Veterinary Medical Officer (503-273-5032). Contractor will deliver all items within three days after receipt of the telephone order. Emergency deliveries may be necessary on rare occasions. Emergency deliveries shall be delivered within two work days of notification. Associated shipment costs for emergency orders will be paid by the Government site.
