Synopsis: Enterprise Disk Storage Infrastructure and Services (EDSIS)-Mainframe

RECOVERY - THIS IS AN AMERICAN RECOVERY AND REINVESTMENT ACT OF 2009 PROCUREMENT. The purpose of this synopsis is to provide notice that the Social Security Administration (SSA) contemplates releasing a solicitation on or about May 28, 2013 for a contractor to provide mainframe storage hardware, software, and support services through a nationwide Indefinite Delivery Indefinite Quantity (IDIQ) contract. The duration of the proposed contract will be for total of ten years. The first five-year period will be an ordering period for mainframe disk storage hardware, virtual tape, software, implementation, and support services. The second five-year period will be an ordering period exclusively for support services. The proposed solicitation number is SSA-RFP-13-0017. SSA anticipates awarding an IDIQ contract with delivery and task orders for all supplies and services ordered on a firm fixed price basis on or about August 18, 2013. When the solicitation is released, it will be released through this FedBizOpps website. SSA will utilize the procedures in Federal Acquisition Regulation Part 12, Acquisition of Commercial Items, and Part 15, Contracting by Negotiation. The intended source for this requirement is EMC Corporation or authorized EMC resellers since SSA's minimum needs can only be satisfied by this source. The North American Industry Classification System (NAICS) code for this requirement is 334112 - Computer Storage Device Manufacturing. The small business size standard for this NAICS code is 1,000 employees. This requirement will not be set-aside for small business. Full or partial funding for task order requirements to be completed by the resultant contractor may utilize funds provided by the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act (the Act). Inclusion of unique provisions required to implement the Act, including those for significant reporting and transparency requirements, in the solicitation/contract is required.
