CDC/NIOSH/Ground Control Branch of the Pittsburgh Mining Research Laboratory (GCB-PMRL) intends to award a sole source firm fixed price purchase order to KRJA Systems, Inc, dba Maptek, 1650S. Union Blvd., Ste. 888, Lakewood, CO. 80288, for quantity of 1- Maptek I-Site 8200 Lazer Scanner with Standard Accessories Kit, and I-Site Studio Software License & Maintenance and I-Site Geotechnical Tools Software License & Maintenance. The GCB-PMRL has a requirment for a terrestrial lazer scanner that is appropiate for distances of 1-100 m, provides data collection of 1,000,000 points per minute, point accuracies under 1 cm, and has a IP65 protection class (dust tight and provides resistance to water exposure) for the creation of three-dimensional reconstructions of underground mine workings. This is a direct replacement for the current photoacoustic detector and customized data acquisition system currently in use by the NIOSH Certification Lab. A direct replacement is required in order to maintain consistency with previously collected data and compatibility with the existing data acquisition system. This contract action is for supplies or services for which the Government intends to solicit and negotiate with only one source under the authority of FAR 13.106-1(b) SAP and 41 U.S.C. 3304(a)(1). Interested persons may identify their interest and capability to respond to the requirement or submit proposals. This notice of intent is not a request for competitive quotations; however, all quotations/responses received within fifteen (15) days of the issuance of this notice will be considered by the government. A determination by the government not to compete this proposed contract based upon responses to this notice is solely within the discretion of the government. Information received will normally be considered solely for the purpose of determining whether to conduct a competitive procurement.
