Empowering Women and Girls in Supply Chains

The Bureau of International Labor Affairs (ILAB), U.S. Department of Labor (USDOL, or the Department), announces the availability of approximately $5,000,000 total costs (subject to the availability of Federal funds) for one cooperative agreement to fund a technical assistance project in an identified country to economically empower women and girls. The objective of the project is to reduce the risk of child labor, forced labor, and other violations of labor rights for vulnerable women and girls within an identified supply chain. The project will aim to achieve the following outcomes: (1) improved economic participation by women and girls vulnerable to child labor, forced labor, and/or other violations of labor rights within a supply chain; and (2) improved business practices by private sector actors to protect against child labor, forced labor, and other violations of labor rights for vulnerable women and girls working within a supply chain. Applicants must propose a country covered in the DOL’s Findings on the Worst Forms of Child Labor in accordance with the Trade and Development Act of 2000. The project must work within a supply chain of a good that is exported to the U.S. and that is identified in USDOL’s List of Goods Produced by Child Labor or Forced Labor (TVPRA List) or in a supply chain of a good not covered in the TVPRA List, but where the applicant demonstrates substantive evidence of indicators of child labor or forced labor.
